Filipa holds a law degree from the Catholic University of Porto and has experience in public procurement, asylum seekers and refugees, conflict resolution and the promotion of human dignity.

Filipa has consulted on projects and funding solutions for non-profit organisations.

She has also worked in international organisations in the UK and in Australia as an Administrator and HR and Services Coordinator in Social Organisations.

Jacinthe is a qualified European Patent Attorney at Patentree, Lda. In addition to IP prosecution and IP management consultancy, she also undertakes IP negotiations on behalf of clients.

She has experience as an intellectual property strategist where she worked closely with clients to conduct IP audits and formulate IP strategies which supports their business strategies and maximise the value of their IP assets.

She also has 2 years of experience as an Associate Trade Mark Examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). Additionally, she also has 2 years of experience as an IP administrator, during which she was primarily involved in IP prosecution administration matters in relation to various countries in Asia, Europe, China and Japan.

Prior to embarking on her career in the IP industry she spent 6 months as a research intern conducting rodent immunology research in the Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN), a research institute established by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) of Singapore. As part of completing her Diploma, Jacinthe spent 2 years as an intern in the medical diagnostic laboratories of various hospitals and polyclinics.

Jacinthe holds a certificate in negotiation mastery from Harvard Business School, a MSc in IP Management and a Grad Cert in IP law from National University of Singapore, a BSc in Biological Sci and a Diploma in Biomed Lab Tech.

Jacinthe is a current member and pro bono volunteer with INTA (International Trademark Association) and is also a member of I3PM - International Institute for IP Management.

Sílvia Vieira is a Qualified European Patent Attorney and Patent and Trademark Attorney (INPI-PT), and an Intellectual Property Strategist at Patentree.

With an academic background, she holds a PhD in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells from the University of Minho. She had the opportunity to work in different research groups not only in Portugal, but also in the UK and the USA, giving her a diverse perspective and know-how in the biotechnology and biomaterials field. During her PhD studies, Sílvia developed a great interest and skills on IP assets, mostly on the strategies available to protect and translate research into the market.

Currently, she is taking the Basic Training Course in European Patent Law from the University of Strasbourg.

Sílvia Vieira

Sofia Santos is an experienced IP Paralegal with over 10 years of experience in patent administration, both in-house and private practice.
Sofia began her career in 2010 in the Intellectual Property department of an international company and, over the years, she has completed various courses in the field, of which the most notable is that she is CIPA (UK), US Patent Paralegal and PFO (NL) certified. 

Her expertise covers various jurisdictions, namely PCT, EP, NL, BE, GB and US, working in direct contact with the relevant Patent Offices and liaising with local agents in other jurisdictions. Furthermore, she has experience filing and maintaining UK, EP, and US designs.

Irina Pereira is a PhD candidate in pharmaceutical sciences with a background in biomedical sciences and genetics. Alongside her academic pursuits, she has completed several courses on industrial property (IP) at the Portuguese Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) and had a brief experience in tech transfer, laying a solid groundwork for her transition from academia to IP. 

Irina Pereira

Francisco has an impressive track record of innovation and theoretical expertise. His master’s thesis on the development of a pneumatic actuator capable of launching projectiles at high speed (from 0 to 70 km/h in fractions of a second) led to a patent application with INPI.

He also holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Porto, focused on the structural monitoring of adhesive joints for the aeronautics industry, applying techniques in structural mechanics, instrumentation, programming, and AI/Machine Learning.

In addition, Francisco has experience in additive manufacturing, which resulted in an international patent on the adaptive control of 3D printers.

Ricardo Abrantes is an European Patent Attorney and Portuguese Patent and Trademark Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney at Patentree.

Ricardo holds a certificate in Technology Management: Roadmap & Development from MIT and a certificate in Basic Training Course in European
Patent Law from the University of Strasbourg. As an academic background, he holds a degree in Materials Engineering by the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.

Dulce Varandas Andrade has been an Portuguese Patent and Trademark Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney since 2019.

An experienced and motivated professional with proven practice in various areas of intellectual property. An Electrical and Computer Engineer with a specialization in Automation, Control and Industrial Production Systems and a Master in Economics and Innovation Management from the University of Porto. 

She has been part of the Patentree team since 2018 and has training in European Patent Law from the Centre d ́Etudes Internationales de la Propriéte Intellectuelle (CEIPI) Université de Strasbourg and the European Patent Institute (EPI).

Dulce is currently working on obtaining her qualification as a European Patent Agent.

Luís Ferreira is a qualified European patent attorney, a Portuguese patent and trademark attorney and a European patent litigator (holding a Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies, CEIPI, patent litigation certificate). He has been a Portuguese industrial property agent and a European trademark and design attorney since 2012 – among the first professionals in Portugal to pass the European qualifying examination.

Mr. Ferreira holds a degree in electrical and computer engineering from Porto University. He is a partner at Patentree.

Mr. Ferreira has interned with the EPO Examining Division. He is a tutor for the CEIPI Lisbon European patent law course and a tutor for epi, the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO.

He has assisted clients extensively with the development of management of IP strategy and prosecution of patent applications (advanced and defensive patent filings). He has comprehensive patent prosecution experience in European, Patent Cooperation Treaty and Portuguese patent applications, including providing opinions on and analyses of patentability, freedom-to-operate and infringement matters. He also has experience as a judicial patent expert appointed both by the courts and by the parties.

Miguel is a pharmacist and holds a PhD in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto.

Miguel has professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry in drug development and collaborated with the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Porto – UPIN in the patentability analysis and commercialization of new technologies.

Anabela Carvalho is a qualified European patent attorney, a Portuguese patent and trademark attorney, a Portuguese industrial property agent and a European trademark and design attorney. She is also a patent arbitrator. In 2013, Ms. Carvalho was one of the first few professionals in Portugal to pass the European qualifying exam.

Ms. Carvalho holds a bioengineering degree from the University of Minho, Portugal. She is a partner at Patentree.

Teresa Martins is an European Patent Attorney, Portuguese Patent and Trademark Attorney, and European Trademark and Design Attorney at Patentree.

Teresa holds a Master Degree in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship from the Faculty of Engineer of University of Porto and a degree in Environmental Engineer from School of Biotechnology of the Portuguese Catholic University.

Teresa initiated her career at Associação Universidade-Empresa para o Desenvolvimento- TecMinho in 2006, first as a tech transfer technician and after as an Intellectual Property officer. During her period in TecMinho, Teresa managed, drafted, filed and assisted the prosecution of the IP Portfolio of the University of Minho.

Teresa has training in European Patent Law from the Centre d ́Etudes Internationales de la Propriéte Intellectuelle (CEIPI) Université de Strasbourg and European Patent Institute (EPI).
